Putnam County Youth Development Commission Executive Director

Job Description

 

In partnership with its Board of Directors, the Executive Director will lead the Putnam County Youth Development Commission in pursuit of its mission to help children become productive citizens through delinquency prevention, referral services, community education, and youth advocacy.

 

Qualifications and traits desired for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred, but transferable experience/training may be acceptable

  • A willingness to expand fundraising initiatives and cultivate donors

  • Nonprofit management, sales, event planning, volunteer management, public speaking and grant-writing experience is a plus

  • A genuine affinity for our community

  • A collaborative, flexible approach to our work

  • Ability to function well in an open office setting yet work independently

  • Skilled at fostering and maintaining relationships

 

Some evening/weekend work and travel is required. PCYDC staff must pass a background check.

 

Essential duties for this position:

Administrative

  • Responsibility and authority to administer the day-to-day operations of the agency

  • Supervise all program directors and conduct annual performance reviews

  • Complete all federal, state and Indiana Youth Services Association (IYSA) reports as required

  • Maintain an active membership in the IYSA as required for accreditation including attending regional peer reviews, state quarterly meetings, required in-service training, etc.

  • Responsible for the fiscal operations of the agency by preparing, implementing, and monitoring a board-approved annual budget in coordination with the CASA director and the board treasurer

  • Direct the public relations and publicity activities of the agency

 

Program Operation

  • Lead all existing programs of the PCYDC including but not limited to operation, staff, costs, funding, and overall program effectiveness

  • Implement new programs that align with the mission of the PCYDC

  • Keep Board of Directors apprised of successes and failures and assist in establishing long-term agency goals

  • Partner with the CASA director and other staff in order to ensure all programs are supported

  • Foster and maintain good working relationships with other social agencies and government departments that provide services to youth including but not limited to: police departments, courts, schools, department of child services, and other county entities

 

Fundraising

  • Responsible for seeking creative funding sources, investigating grants, and preparing proposals in order to generate operating capital for programs and agency operations

  • Serve as lead coordinator for all PCYDC fundraising events

  • Build an organizational infrastructure that will allow PCYDC to benefit from sustaining donors
