The Putnam County community continues to support our annual compaign to ensure that needy families receive new or gently-used coats.  Coat collections take place all across the county including all elementary, middle and high schools.

Coats are distributed each year on the last Saturday in October at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.  There are no forms to complete, and no interviews are required. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian to receive their coat, hat and mittens.

Greencastle Robe Ann Park continues to be the location for the national event scheduled the first Tuesday in August of each year.  Target population are families with children in elementary to middle school.

This is one event where over thirty-five local serving agencies come together for one evening to promote the health, safety and well being of all Putnam County children.

The PCYDC officially announced its 2019 fundraiser.  The inaugural Lip Sync Team Challenge is set for Saturday, May 11 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds Community Building.

While the exact rosters have not been finalized in some cases, the 12 teams competing include Area 30 Career Center, Cloverdale Community Schools, Endeavor Communications, Fillmore Elementary School, First National Bank, Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church, the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce, Greencastle High School, Kirsch Family Dentistry, North Putnam Community Schools, Putnam County Hospital and RE/MAX Cornerstone.

There will also be no designated judges of the lip syncing. Instead, each $50 ticket, which includes dinner and the show, will also come with one voting ballot.

Additionally, audience members will have the chance to purchase more ballots for $5, with all proceeds going to the Youth Development Commission.

Of course, the PCYDC is utilizing a number

of avenues to raise funds for the event.

Each team has committed to raising a minimum of $2,000, which does not include ticket sales.

The commission is also looking for sponsors at several different levels. For $3,000, the title sponsor will have its name on all advertising or news releases regarding the event, as well as getting table of eight at the event and 30 voting ballots.

Other sponsorship levels include $1,000 for gold, $500 for silver and $250 for bronze.

There will also be a silent auction to raise funds for the PCYDC.

Cost of the event is $50 per ticket or a table of eight for $400. Tickets will be available at the PCYDC office 10-1/2 N. Jackson St., Greencastle, from March 15 through April 15.
